5 Questions to Ask Before You Book a Photographer

The five questions that separate a calm shoot day from a stressful one — what to ask before you book a wedding or fashion photographer in Pakistan.

A portfolio shows you someone's best day. Booking well means understanding their average one — because that's what you're actually hiring. Whether it's a wedding you can't re-shoot or a campaign on a deadline, these five questions tell you far more than a highlight reel.

The five questions

  • Can I see one full gallery, start to finish?
  • Who exactly will shoot my day?
  • What's your delivery timeline?
  • How do you handle tricky light and tight venues?
  • What happens if you're unwell on the day?

Why each one matters

1. Can I see one full gallery, start to finish?

Ten hero frames are easy. A whole wedding or campaign — the quiet moments, the tricky light, the consistency from first frame to last — is the real test. Ask to see one complete job, not just the cover shots.

2. Who exactly will shoot my day?

Larger studios sometimes sell on a lead photographer's portfolio and send someone else. Make sure the person whose work you fell for is the person who actually turns up — and ask who the second shooter or team will be.

3. What's your delivery timeline?

A clear, confident answer signals a studio that finishes what it starts. Ask when you'll see a preview, when the full gallery lands, and whether films follow. Vague timelines are a red flag.

4. How do you handle tricky light and tight venues?

Experience shows in the plan, not just the camera. A dim hall, harsh midday sun, a cramped nikkah stage — a seasoned photographer will tell you exactly how they'd shoot it. If the answer is just "we'll figure it out," keep looking.

5. What happens if you're unwell on the day?

A wedding date can't move. A dependable studio has a backup photographer and a clear contingency, and will tell you what it is without hesitating. Solo photographers with no plan B are a genuine risk on an unrepeatable day.

Two more worth asking

Beyond the five, it's worth confirming what's included (coverage hours, images, albums, films) and how booking works — most studios hold your date with a signed agreement and an advance. We cover what's included in each tier on our services page, and if you're weighing budgets, see how much a wedding photographer costs in Pakistan.

Trust the rapport

Finally, the thing no checklist captures: you'll spend the whole day with this person. The right photographer feels like a guest you're glad came — and that ease is exactly what shows up in the pictures. Numbers and packages matter, but so does whether you actually want them in the room.
