How to Prepare for a Fashion Shoot: A Brand's Checklist
How to prepare for a fashion shoot — brief, mood board, wardrobe, hair and make-up, and the prep that gets a brand more usable images on the day.

A great fashion shoot is mostly decided before anyone arrives on set. The brands that walk away with a full set of usable images are almost always the ones who prepared — not the ones with the biggest budget. Here's how we help brands and designers in Lahore get ready.
Start with the brief
Before anything else, get clear on what the images are for. A campaign for billboards needs different frames than a lookbook built for an online store, and e-commerce needs different again. The purpose decides the crop, the colour story and the shot count — so nail it first. (More on this in studio or on-location.)
Build a mood board
A simple mood board — five to ten reference images — aligns everyone before the day: photographer, stylist, hair and make-up, and you. It's the fastest way to make sure the pictures in your head are the pictures we shoot. On campaign and editorial work we build this together as part of art direction.
Plan the wardrobe in looks
Don't bring a rail of everything. Build looks — three to five pieces that share a tone — so the edit feels intentional. Steam or press everything the night before, bring backups in two sizes, and keep accessories considered. Our full guide on what to wear for a fashion shoot covers the pieces that photograph well and the ones to leave at home.
Lock hair, make-up and a call time
Hair and make-up almost always run long, so build a realistic call time with a buffer before the first look. A shared running order — looks, breaks, priority shots — keeps a half-day from turning into a scramble.
A shoot-day checklist
- Confirmed brief and shot list
- Mood board shared with the whole team
- Looks built and pressed, with backups
- Hair & make-up booked with a call time
- Steamer, lint roller and clips on hand
- Any product, props or branding delivered to set
On the day, trust the plan
With the prep done, the shoot itself is calm: we work through the looks, watch the light, and keep the energy up. Good preparation is what buys the freedom to chase the unexpected frames — the ones that often become the campaign's hero shot.
